聚四氟乙烯棒有三种。直径2mm～4mm的棒选用分散聚合聚四氟乙烯树脂径糊膏推压加工制成;直径5mm～120mm的棒选用悬浮聚四氟乙烯树脂经柱塞挤压加工制成;直径55mm～300mm的棒经模压加工而成。
在已知塑料中聚四氟乙烯具有最优良的耐化学腐蚀性能于介电性能，不老化、不粘，在无负荷情况下能在-180℃～+260℃温度下使用，在已知固体材料中它具有最低摩擦系数。
