一）、产品特点 1、连接方便，施工简单，方法多样：PE管管体轻，搬运方便，焊接容易，焊接口少。当管线较长时使用盘管敷设（一般指管径小于63毫米）PE管要求远比钢管要求低。另外，可采用管沉入的方法在水底铺设，大大降低施工难度和工程费用。 2、使用寿命长，耐腐蚀性强。PE管材具有很强的耐腐蚀性，聚乙烯为惰性材料，可耐酸碱腐蚀、其本身就是极好的防腐材料，一般的土壤、酸碱等因素都不会使管材腐蚀损坏。使用寿命一般为50年。 3、流通能力大，管壁光洁度高，不易结垢。PE管内壁光滑，不结垢。其内表面当量绝对粗糙比值是钢的1/20，相同管径、相同长度、相同压力下的PE管其流通能力要比钢管大30%左右，因此经济优势明显。与金属管道相比，PE管道可减少工程投资口径管材，可进一步降低工程造价。
4、重量轻、施工方便。管材重量轻，只有钢管的1/7，是玻璃钢管的1/2，寿命却是钢管的4～5倍，运输、安装便捷，能大大降低工人的劳动强度，提高工作效率。 5、较好韧性和挠曲性：高韧性管材，其断裂伸长率达到350%以上，对基础不均匀沉降和错位的适应能力强，抗震性好。 6、强度大、耐冲击，机械性能优越。管材使用的PE树脂，抗老化性能好，不易脆化，有韧性，能吸收冲击能，安装时受地形沉降影响小。 7、密封性好：PE管本身采用熔接连接，本质上保证了接口材质结构与管体本身的同一性，实现了接头与管材的一体化。其接口的抗拉强度与爆破强度均高于管材本体，可有效抵抗内压力产生的环向应力和轴应力。因此，与橡胶圈类接头或其他机械接头相比，不相存在接头扭曲造成的泄露危险，密封性能十分良好。 8、抗应力裂性好：PE管具有低的缺口敏感性，高抗剪切强度及优异的抗痕能力，耐环境应力性非常突出。 9、低温抗冲击性好：聚乙烯的低温脆化温度极低，可在－20～40℃温度范围内安全使用。冬季施工时，因材料抗冲击性好，不会发生管子脆裂。 10、多种全新的施工方式：PE管道具有多种施工技术，除了可以采用传统的开挖方式进行施工外，还可以采用多种全新的非开挖技术如顶管、定向钻孔、衬管、裂管等方式进行施工，这对于一些不允许开挖的场所，是唯一的选择，因此PE管道应用领域更广泛。

三）主要用途和适用范围
1、农村、城镇供水（PE管道具有安全、卫生、施工方便等综合优势，已成为农村、城镇供水的理想管材。）一般其工作温度在－20～40℃内能安全使用。 2、食品、化工领域（PE管具有独特的耐化学腐蚀性能，可用于各种酸碱盐溶液的输送或排放，使用寿命长，成本及维护费用低。） 3、砂、泥浆输送（PE管道的耐磨性是钢管的4倍，可广泛应用于输送矿砂、发电厂的粉煤灰、河道清淤的泥浆等。） 4、换水泥管、铸铁和钢管（对于城市原有敷设的水泥管、铸铁管等进行旧管改造，可以不经过大面积开挖，直接将PE管插入旧管中进行更换，工程造价低，施工时间短，特别适用于老城区的管路改造。） 5、林绿化管网（园林绿化需要大量的输水管道，PE管道成本低廉，值得大力推广。）
6、非开挖专用管网（主要适用于用于农村河道非开挖施工，城市道路的牵引施工。）
7、替代需要承压的排水管网等。
