YH□W型复合外套无间隙金属氧化物避雷器，由避雷器本体、连接金具两部分组合而成，主要用于6kV-220kV线路及变电站，防止雷击引起的绝缘子或设备损坏，降低雷击造成的跳闸率。
防雷原理：在电网正常运行工况下，避雷器内的氧化锌电阻片呈现高阻抗。在直击雷或感应雷产生的雷电过电压作用下，氧化锌电阻片呈现低阻抗且导通，雷电流通过连接金具、避雷器本体泄放入地。雷电冲击过后，避雷器本体的阻值又瞬间变大，工频续流被完全遮断，有效地防止了雷击断线或设备损坏。
具有以下优点：
1）外套采用硅橡胶有机材料整体模压硫化成型，具有优良的防污性能。
2）避雷器本体内部结构具有独特的设计，具有优良的防水性能，且能够通过16kA、0.2s大电流短路电流试验，防止在挂网运行中出现类似瓷套避雷器的恶性爆炸事故。
