钢带增强聚乙烯螺旋波纹管是一种以高密度聚乙烯(PE)为基体（内外层）与表面涂敷粘接树脂钢带复合的缠绕结构壁管。管壁结构由三层构成：内层是一个连续实壁PE内层管，内层管外缠绕有（用钢板成形为“V”型的）环形波状管带增强体，在波状钢带增强体外复合有聚乙烯的外层，从而复合成整体的螺旋波纹管。钢的弹性模量是聚乙烯的近200倍（碳素钢的弹性模量在190000MPa左右），结合金属和塑料的优点显然是达到高刚度低消耗的理想办法，能够将刚才的高刚度、高强度和塑料的耐腐蚀、耐磨损和柔韧性等优良特性有机地结合起来，发挥两方面的优点，弥补两方面的缺点，实现高性能和低成本的统一。
钢带增强螺旋波纹管很好的结合了钢、塑各自的优点，用连接钢带压成近似“U”形的钢筋被缠绕在内外两层热熔接的聚乙烯间。把钢材的高刚度、高强度和聚乙烯的柔韧、耐腐、耐磨等优良性结合起来，可使管材达到SN8、SN12.5、SN16三个级别环刚度，解决了钢材的耐腐蚀问题，突破了较大直径全塑料埋地排水管环刚一般只能达到SN8的限制。
