因为目前大口径管道的需求大大增大，纯PE管道因要保证到SDR11压力等级，只有增加壁厚，随石油价格走高，聚乙烯原料价格节节攀高，所以为了降纸管材成本，又达到同压力等级的管道，现纯PE管已逐步走向钢塑复合聚乙烯管道发展的道路，例如：钢丝网增强聚乙烯复合管、孔网钢带增强聚乙烯复合管。
