性 质：白色细颗粒结晶或粉末，有吸湿性，易溶于水，水溶液呈中性。 溶于甘油，不溶解于醇。暴露于空气中会逐渐吸收1分子的水。纯度高、颗粒细的无水物称为元明粉。硫酸钠可形成七水物和十水物，七水物(Na2SO4·7H2O)为白色斜方晶体。加热至24.4℃时转为无水物。硫酸钠与碳在高温反应时被还原为硫化钠。
用 途：合成洗涤剂用作填充剂。用于硫化钠、群青、硅酸钠等化工产品的制造，造纸工业中用于制造硫酸盐纸浆，玻璃工业中用来代替纯碱，染料工业中作填充剂。印染工业中用作助染剂，医药工业中用作缓泻剂和钡盐中毒的解毒剂等。此外，在合成纤维、制革、有色冶金、瓷釉、肥皂等的制造中也有应用。
