是一种无色透明的油状液体，分子式：C3H3N，结构式：CH2=CH—CN，有苦杏仁味，微溶于水，易溶于一般有机溶剂。遇火种、高温、氧化剂有燃烧爆炸的危险，其蒸气与空气混合物能成为爆炸性混合物。
丙烯腈属大众基本有机化工产品，是三大合成材料——合成纤维、合成橡胶、塑料的基本且重要的原料，对应的主要下游产品有腈纶、丁腈橡胶、ABS树脂等，其中腈纶占丙烯腈需求量的44%。此外，丙烯腈还可以醇解生产丙烯酸酯、水解生产丙烯酰胺、电解生产己二腈等。因此，丙烯腈在有机合成工业中用途广发，是一种重要的精细化工中间体。
丙烯腈的生产工艺是以丙烯、氨、空气为原料，在流化床反应器内生成丙烯腈，并副产乙腈和氢氰酸。齐泰公司的丙烯腈装置现年生产能力为8000吨/年。
